The use of this fitting with this E-track is suitable for securing a motorcycle to a trailer bed, if the track is installed properly & the fitting is oriented correctly in the slots of the E-track.
Please see images below showing proper orientation of fitting as related to the direction of pull initiated by the tie down strap/hook.
The cargo must be secured with suitably strong tie downs – 4 tie downs / 4 anchor points are best…2 front & 2 rear, ensure that the load is distributed properly across each anchor point.
The E-track should be screwed or bolted down every other hole, if possible.
The best floor or trailer bed placement for the E-track, allows the ring on the fitting to be positioned at 30ᵒ - 45ᵒ by the tie down strap/hook when the tie down is tightened…ensuring that the fitting is engaged properly at each “tooth” end.
This creates opposing forces at the longest tooth portion at each end of the fitting.
The track should not be positioned so that the tensile force on the fitting is 90ᵒ (vertical).
The size/dimensions of the fitting & mating slots on the E-track itself are industry standards.
The design allows for quick & easy adjustable positioning of an E-track fitting used as an anchor point.
Hole diameter is 9/32” (0.290)
It is also important to note that the working load limit rating for each of the (4) tie downs being used must be higher than the weight of the motorcycle. This is to accommodate for the multi-directional G-forces that the cargo/motorcycle can experience when being transported.
E-track is only made to work with E-track fittings.
Use E-track tie off extension 04316 or 89306 with an appropriate tie down.
